Shanti(edited)

Have you ever heard of the word Shanti?

It is a Sanskrit word meaning ‘peace’.

When you attend a yoga class in India, you will often start the class by chanting AUM (the first letter of the Sanskrit alphabet) and then Shanti three times, and end the class with this. The first chant is to your body, the second one is to your mind, and the third one to your soul.

Shanti has a stronger meaning than the word ‘peace’ that we use generally. The word ‘peace’ that we use in our daily life has the contradictory word ‘war’ in it. Shanti means absolute ‘peace’.
All your thoughts are relative, and all the world you see through your thoughts appears relative. Therefore, you cannot recognise the state of Shanti through your mind. The state of Shanti comes from somewhere when you are detached from thoughts. It comes when you become passive and forget yourself. As long as you are actively seeking it, you will never get there. Absolute bliss and absolute peace appear when you are meditaive.
